2013 AIA Arizona State Conference

The topic this year is Creating Community and our keynote speaker will be Richard Jackson, PhD., Honorary AIA. This conference will explore the opportunity and need to create healthy, walkable, sustainable, economically viable and more livable communities to energize our Arizona cities and neighborhoods. From new sustainable city planning initiatives to incremental development that makes an immediate impact on our neighborhoods, the change in our communities is noticeable and welcome. Be part of this positive change that will affect our profession and our Arizona lifestyle, plan to attend and be part of the dialogue.

AIA - has become the leading voice for reinserting health considerations into decisions about urban, suburban, and transportation design programs, rallying mayors, planners, architects, and the public to re-envision communities that are good for people and the planet.

2:15 pm to 4:00 pm          Trade Show/Reception

4:00 pm to 5:00 pm          Owners/Developers/Landscape Architects and Architects - that have successfully implemented new projects that have energized the Phoenix, Tucson and Northern Arizona communities. Phoenix Development - Will Bruder, FAIA; Maingate at University and Park in Tucson - Jane McCollum, General Manager Marshall Foundation; Old Town Cottonwood - Casey Rooney, Economic Development Director City of Cottonwood.

5:00 pm to 6:00 pm          Roundtable Discussion - Will Bruder, FAIA and Kimber Lanning, Director of Local First Arizona will moderate the panel. Dr. Richard Jackson, Hon. AIA; City of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton; City of Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and Casey Rooney with City of Cottonwood.
