International Fleet Review 2013 - Royal Australian Navy website with all the facts on all the events of the IFR
Join us on board a luxury 58 foot yacht to watch the Tall Ships enter Sydney Harbour for the start of the week long celebrations of the International Fleet Review. Pilgrim will be cruising the harbour to watch the Tall Ship parade - 17 tall ships will proceed from the heads to Cockle Bay wharf, two lines abreast.
We will be departing Double Bay at 10am and returning at 1pm. Soft drinks, tea, coffee & biscuits included.
The International Fleet Review 2013 commemorates the centenary of the first entry of the Royal Australian Navy's Fleet into Sydney. On 4th October 1913, the flagship HMAS Australia led the new Australian Fleet of seven ships (HMA Ships Melbourne, Sydney, Encounter, Warrego, Parramatta and Yarra) into Sydney Harbour for the first time. The International Fleet Review 2013 is a week long affair celebrating this event.
An extensive program of events is planned including: tall ship parade (3 Oct), warship entry and 21 gun salute (4 Oct); ceremonial fleet review by the Governor General of Australia, massed fixed wing and helicopter flypast, aerial acrobatic displays, IFR fireworks and lightshow spectacular (5 Oct); warships open to visitors (6 & 7 Oct); Freedom of Entry parades in Mosman and Parramatta (8 Oct); combined naval march through Sydney CBD (9 Oct); plus numerous military band concerts; religious and memorial services, and sporting competitions during the IFR.
