PCD-UUA Leadership Development Day
Featuring Wayne Clark, Ph.D., Director,
UUA Congregational Stewardship Services.
PCD-UUA Leadership Day is an opportunity for congregational leaders from across the district to gather, share information, develop relationships, and deepen our connection to each other and to our movement. It is a time to refresh our spirits and to realize what an amazing resource we have in each other! Joshua Searle-White, our new District Executive, will be there to welcome everyone and to introduce himself to the district. Following that introduction, we will all be with Wayne Clark as he shares a coming-of-age story designed to move congregations beyond the restrictive myth of scarcity that pervades so many of our Unitarian Universalist faith communities. Drawing upon his book, Beyond Fundraising: A Complete Guide to Congregational Stewardship, Wayne will help participants focus on the reality of abundance. Hard copies of the PowerPoint slides will be distributed. During lunch, participants will have the opportunity for informal conversation and fellowship with others who work in similar ways in our movement, such as congregational presidents or treasurers, community activists, and musicians. Lunch will be extended to allow time for this informal information sharing. In his afternoon session, Wayne will work with teams of congregational leaders to help them create a culture of generosity in each of their congregations. More specifically, Wayne will help teams in planning their next annual budget drive. To participate in this session, each congregation must be represented by at least three leaders (professional and/or lay leaders.) A second session in the afternoon titled "What Keeps our Congregations Spiritually Alive?" will be held for those who will not be participating in the workshop with Wayne Clark. This session will be an informal and experiential conversation about the deepening of our collective spiritual life, and it will be facilitated by Jeanelyse Doran Adams and Joshua Searle-White. We welcome all clergy and lay leaders to join us at this exciting event! Presenter information: Wayne Clark has been the director of the Congregational Stewardship Network for more than 15 years. He holds a doctorate in human and organizational systems and been an organizational development consultant for 30 years. Wayne lives in the greater Portland, Maine area with his wife Lisa. Registration: $45 / person, $55 after Friday, October 14, 2013 Breakfast goodies and a hearty lunch with vegetarian / vegan options will be provided. |
