OASIS-C Accuracy is an intermediate learning opportunity designed for quality reviewers, managers, professionals and field clinicians who are ready to take their OASIS-C knowledge to the next level or to prepare for OASIS-C certification (HCS-O credential) on October 18, 2013.

Objectives:

1. Identify OASIS-C general conventions, ADL/IADL specific conventions, and critical definitions of terms in the OASIS-C.

2. Define CMS criteria for accurately assessing and completing OASIS-C “M” items that are critical to outcome / process measures scores,case-mix scores, and agency reimbursement.

3. Identify changes to key home health compare outcome and process measure scoring in July 2013, to include acute care hospitalization, emergency department use, and fall risk assessment.

4. Recognize potential mis-steps and incorrect assumptions clinicians make when completing critical OASIS-C items.

5. Identify changes anticipated in conversion of OASIS-C to OASIS C-1 in October 2014.

6. Identify tools that may assist clinicians in improving accuracy of response to OASIS-C.

7. Correctly apply knowledge of OASIS-C, conventions, and CMS guidance in multiple case scenarios.

OASIS-C Accuracy is an intermediate learning opportunity designed for quality reviewers, managers, professionals and field  clinicians who are ready to take their OASIS-C knowledge to the next level or to prepare for OASIS-C certification (HCS-O credential). EXTRA!! Attendees who will be sitting for the HCS-O OASIS-C Certification Exam offered by the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance (BMSC) are invited to attend the 1-hour study session at the end of the day at no additional charge. The optional HCS-O Exam will be administered on October 18, 2013 (Fri.) starting at 9 am. Separate advance registration and payment must be made directly to BMSC. Continuing Education:

 Provider approved by the California Board of Nursing Provider Number CEP 15642, for 7 contact hours. This program has been pre-approved by the Board of Medical Specialty Coding & Compliance for 7 continuing education units (CEU) towards the maintenance of  the HCS-D and/or HCS-O credential.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations received in writing 10 days prior to the workshop will be subject to a 20% administrative fee.  NO REFUNDS will be issued for cancellations received within 10 days of the workshop.  Refunds will not be made for NO SHOWS.  However, substitutions will be allowed.  Please advise A1HC&S in writing of any cancellation or substitution in advance of the workshop.

Ann is a recognized national expert and educator in home health coding and OASIS-C.  As founder of Rambusch Consulting Services, she currently offers educational programs nationally and consults with agencies on improving financial and clinical operations and outcomes, OASIS-C, coding, documentation and compliance.

Ann has over ten years experience as an administrator/general manager for both private and hospital-based home health and hospice agencies.  A former hospital vice president of patient services with more than thirty years of nursing leadership experience, Ann has also served on the nursing faculty at Emory University, University of Texas and University of Georgia System.

A certified home health coding specialist since 2003, Ann serves as a member of the Expert Panel of Advisors for the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance (BMSC).  She is the principal author of the HCS-O OASIS Certification exam which was introduced in 2011 by BMSC.

Ann is the author of The gO Ring, A Guide for Home Health Clinicians. She serves as a technical editor /education consultant to DecisionHealth and its home health publications and newsletters (Home Health Line, Diagnosis Coding Pro, and Home Care Outcomes). She is the author of a step by step compliance manual for home health, a coding and OASIS-C computer-based training series, and the OASIS-C Study Guide published by DecisionHealth.
