We all know how to talk. But conversations that utilize coaching skills leave people feeling stronger, focused, and more creative – more capable of tackling the tasks in front of them and doing it in a way that leaves them feeling fulfilled rather than drained. Coaching conversations improve performance and attitude. They're a key way of helping groups become functioning teams.
Virtually every church today is in a turn-around mode. That requires pastoral and lay leaders who know how to engage the laity at a deeper level than ever before. Coaching conversations create the space where persons get in touch with their unique giftedness, find encouragement to test those gifts, and then have a place of reflection and accountability.
