An autumn Zen meditation retreat

~

Sesshin is an extended meditation retreat in the Zen tradition, a time to come together as a community, and settle deeply into practice. A rough translation of the Japanese word "sesshin" is to touch the mind, or become intimate with the mind. Becoming intimate with the mind, the heart and life as it really is, is exactly what happens at sesshin. By paring down our normal schedule for a few days we make room for the many other possibilities of life to arise.

Sesshin at LZC includes meditation, koans, community, healthy vegetarian meals, work, and practice conversations with the teacher.

The retreats are both residential and non-residential. If you would like a more intimate experience of sesshin, there is room to stay at the Centre during the retreat. Please let us know what your preference is. Participants will receive an email after registering with information on what to bring and FAQ reference guide.

Sesshin  Schedule

Friday 7-9pm: introductory talk and instructions, meditation

Saturday 5am-9pm: meditation, conversations with the teacher, meals, work, Zen Talk

Saturday 5am-4pm: meditation, conversations with the teacher, meals, work, Zen Talk

This retreat is led by Raymond Gaudry, Sensei and Director of the London Zen Centre. Raymond has been practicing Zen and working with koans for the past 20 years. He is a Zen teacher in the Pacific Zen School Lineage, a Zen lineage that emphasizes koans as a way of completely transforming your life, as a way of beauty and a way of uncovering the secret kindness in the world.
