South Plains Career Expo 2013

October 30, 2013

Lubbock Memorial Civic Center

Dear Business Partners:

On behalf of the South Plains Workforce Solutions organization, we would like to invite you to participate in our 13th Annual South Plains Career Expo on October 30th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon!  You will be able to set up in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center's Exhibit Hall.  We are expecting more than 4,000 area high school junior and senior students to attend this event to learn more about career and educational opportunities in our region.  To date, with your support and partnership, we have brought together more than 44,000 area high school students that have been exposed to hundreds of career and educational opportunties.  The students will be scheduled to visit with you from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon.  Refreshments will be available during the event.

During the career expo, students and educators will have an opportunity to discuss first-hand the many career and educational opportunities in your areas.  Remember that the Career Expo allows you to be creative and interactive with students through your booth.  Students are attracted to booths that are interesting and hands-on.  When you are planning your booth for the this career expo, try to incorporate these components into your exhibit.  Many business partners find success by partnering with the postsecondary program that provides the educational training for the career.  South Plains College, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland Baptist University, and Texas Tech University can be great partners to help you provide a fun, interactive booth.

Tips for New Businesses Preparing for the Expo & Returning Business Partners:

  • Interactive, hands-on exhibits are ideal.
  • Showcase your chosen career field rather than just your organization/business.
  • Partner with postsecondary to enhance your booth.
  • Think outside the box and be creative with your exhibit.
  • Bring enough colleagues to help you out at the Expo.  With 4,000 students coming through, you will need extra help to speak with students

We strongly encourage you to register early for this Career Expo.  Please complete the registration to reserve your booth today!
