Orofacial myfunctional therapy is the evaluation and treatment of a variety of conditions including abnormal orofacial muscle rest posture, mouth breathing, and oral habits that impact occlusion, mastication, and deglutition (chewing and swallowing). Dental hygiene professionals are in a unique position to recognize these problems and, with training, can provide therapies to help restore healthy function to our patients.
Course materials will include an essential workbook with detailed photographs, step-by-step instruction, and techniques that can be put to immediate use in your practice.

William E. Zickefoose and Julie Zickefoose are certified orofacial myologists practicing Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy exclusively. Mr. Zickefoose is the founder (1971) and first president of the I.A.O.M. Mr. and Mrs. Zickefoose are the directors of the Academy of Oral Myofunctional Therapy - International training others in this specialty area. They are advisors for the Japan Society for Myofunctional Therapy. They have produced numerous books, pamphlets and audio-visual materials to aid in the understanding of orofacial muscle dysfunction. They have been invited to speak at "The 7th World Dental Meeting in Japan 2014", "2014 QDT Symposium", "2014 Dental Hygienist Symposium".
