Disaster Management Symposium

"Lunch & Learn"

Please join us for an informational Lunch & Learn Program with guest speakers Kevin Davis, Director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness, Rick Weber, Ascension Parish OEP, and Dr. Ramesh Kolluru, Ph.D., Interim Vice President of Research at UL Lafayette.

This one-of-a-kind event will include break-out sessions concerning disaster management training needs of public and private sector stakeholders, brainstorming over a working lunch, oil spill response demonstrations, and a presentation of our emergency management training initiative - the Center for Public-Private Preparedness. The event will enable you to network with emergency management leaders from government and industry, and learn the various ways to improve effectiveness, manage costs, and facilitate crisis communication before, during, and after an emergency through necessary partnerships.

The "lunch & learn"  will culminate with the launch of two innovative Public Private Partnerships, with special guests The Honorable Mary Landrieu, United States Senator; Richard Zuschlag, Acadian Companies Chairman & CEO; and Dr. E. Joseph Savoie, President of UL Lafayette. These partnerships include:

1.) The UL Lafayette National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies (NIMSAT) Institute has partnered with Safety Management Systems, an Acadian Company, to provide "all-hazards emergency preparedness" training and exercising capability.

2.) The UL Lafayette Marine Survival Training Center has partnered with American Pollution Control and The Response Group to provide world-class training on "oil spill" response.

The event will empower you to manage a disaster response, mitigate the damage, and you will get to know those you will be working with during an emergency.
