Artist Deidre Scherer introduces her work and discusses the process of using fabric to speak the unspeakable and say the unsaid. During the workshop all participants are encouraged to create a visual story, keepsake or memorial on a quilt square. Through the collaboration of local quilt/textile groups, artists and/or fabric suppliers, materials and practical support will be provided to help all levels of experience. Each participant may choose to take his or her piece home or allow it to be added to a community quilt that will be exhibited once completed.
Objective: To find common ground while working, to share in making a memento out of scraps and to experience community support with adverse and challenging ideas.
