The Power of Food to Engage, Move
and Nurture Your Audience

Food is nourishment for the body, mind, soul and community. Food pantries, farmers markets and meals-on-wheels lend themselves to storytelling with food. But in reality, other types of nonprofits can also tap into the universal nature of food to tell their story -- family, health, education, community, sustainability, social justice, and more.

Tap into the multisensory power of food to engage your audience, create a visceral experience that cuts to their core and moves them to respond to your call-to-action.

Ann-Louise Haak, Executive Director of First Slice Café, will host the workshopFirst Slice is a nonprofit organization providing high quality meals to an underserved population. Since fall of 2009, they have been serving up food with a conscience at their Manor Ave location. The eatery encourages people to stop in for coffee, lunch, or a piece of one of their famous pies, tantalizingly on display in the front window’s refrigerated case. All proceeds from purchases go toward providing healthful, farm-to-table meals to Chicagoans struggling with homelessness.
