CWLC Round Table on Aboriginal Child and Family Services

On Friday, September 20, 2013, Child Welfare League of Canada (CWLC) and Native Child and Family Services of Toronto are holding an invitational Round Table on Aboriginal Child and Family Services.

What invited guests can expect: CWLC creates a focused platform for an array of experts, thought leaders, child advocates, public sector executives, and front line service providers to come together and consult on pressing issues. We set the theme and prepare consultation questions to get the conversation started. The Round Table is designed for CWLC to engage in a meaningful way with member agencies and key issue stakeholders who are directly involved in Aboriginal child welfare, and devise a plan to move forward. You will have a unique opportunity to shape the elements of a larger discussion and paradigm shift in the way CWLC defines and approaches its work in this area.

Discussion points

  • What areas should CWLC focus on in the next five to ten years in Aboriginal child and family services?
  • Who should our key partners be? Should the partnerships be developed based on geographic representation or based on issue-specific expertise, or both?
  • What can CWLC do to be most effective while being aware of the work being done by indigenous agencies?
  • Are there any specific initiatives or subject areas that CWLC should support?
  • Aside from programming and partnership development initiatives as discussed above, are there initiatives that CWLC should be involved with?

We look forward to a meeting of minds in this great space, at the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto facility.
