Thank the Turkeys

We are so excited for the 4th annual Thank the Turkeys celebration! We've expanded the hours open so you can be assured enough time spent with all the rescued animals!

Read over all the information below thoroughly!

Event Specifics
Please note the following: The rabbit barn will not be open to the public. With this many people at one time, the rabbits will be far too sensitive and afraid to enjoy visitors. All of our rabbits are feral and do not like much interaction with humans. We hope you understand!

DATE: Saturday, November 23rd, 2013
TIME: 11:00-5:00 pm
Please note: We have expanded the start time from 11:30 to 11:00 am. The barns are only open from 11:00-1:00 pm, so PLEASE plan your arrival accordingly. The barns will be closed at 1 pm.

Check-in: Be sure to check-in at the Animal Place table upon arrival!

BARNS OPEN: 11:00-1:00 pm - Meet the Sheep, Pigs, Cattle, Goats

COLLEEN PATRICK-GOUDREAU:  1:05-1:45 pm - We are so honored to have the Compassionate Cook speaking at our event! She will be speaking near the chicken/turkey barn!

FEEDING OF THE TURKEYS & CHICKENS: 1:45 pm - 2:30 pm - The fun time! There will be three locations to feed the turkeys - the girls will be outside, the boys in their own pasture, and two smaller girls and the chickens in their own pasture. We hope you'll share the turkey pies with the chickens too. Each visitor will receive ONE cupcake sized turkey pie. Any food leftover will be fed to the pigs.

FEEDING OF THE HUMANS: 3:00 - 5:00 pm - We are incredibly excited about the menu Local Love Catering/Sanctuary Bistro has put together for you! The food is gluten-free and delicious. You will be fed OFFSITE (see details below) and we will escort you to the facility, which is only 10 minutes from the sanctuary!

DANIEL REDWOOD, SANCTUARY SONG: 3:00-3:10 pm - While munching on your tasty appetizers, enjoy music by Daniel Redwood!

HOPE BOHANEC: 3:40-4:10 pm - Author of The Ultimate Betrayal, Hope Bohanec will share her stories of sanctuary residents who are helping dispel the myth of humane animal production.

WILL TUTTLE: 4:15-5:00 pm - End the lovely dinner with author of The World Peace Diet, Will Tuttle!

Offsite Dinner Venue

We will be escorting you to the offsite venue where you will be eating, but in case you miss the vehicle train, this is the information needed for the location.

You will be eating at The Grange - a rental hall, NOT a restaurant.

Address: 12629 McCourtney Road. From the sanctuary, turn left onto McCourtney Road. Drive for approximately 10 minutes. The Banner Grange will be on your right side. If you hit the fairgrounds (on your left), you've gone too far.

What to Bring/Wear

Closed toed shoes are MANDATORY. You will not be permitted into the goat, pig, sheep, or cattle pastures without closed toed shoes. Please convey this to your group members!

Long pants are required for entrance into the pastures. Jeans or comfortable khakis should suffice!

The weather appears to be 70 or so and overcast. We are not expecting rain but if we are, we'll let you know. This event occurs rain or shine!

Bring your cameras! Take lots of photos and make sure to tag us on social media!

Leave companion animals at home. Our rescued farmed animals are very sensitive about unknown dogs. We ask that all companion animals remain at home. You cannot leave your dog in the vehicle unattended, given that there will be a lot of people around and we are on a busy road.

Please do not bring your own food. All food is vegan and gluten-free. Food for the turkeys will be provided to you.

Silent Auction

Thank the Turkeys is a benefit for Animal Place. We encourage you to bid on one of the many silent auction items available! Auction items and bid sheets will be in The Grange hall, where food is served. Check them out between speakers or courses!
