Georgia's Fuel Up First with Breakfast Challenge
It is proven that eating a healthy breakfast is linked to academic success. This year, our goal is to raise breakfast participation in Georgia Schools. Therefore, the Georgia Department of Education’s School Nutrition Program has teamed up with the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) to launch Georgia’s Fuel Up First with Breakfast Challenge. The challenge is scheduled to run September through November 2013. All public, charter, and private school districts in Georgia who participate in the National School Breakfast Program will be eligible to compete for cash prizes provided by SUDIA.
The Kick-Off Celebration will start with an observation of students participating in “Breakfast in the Classroom” and will end with a short assembly to highlight the importance of eating a healthy breakfast every day.
