2nd Annual Livable Communities Summit

"A New Development Pattern -

Adjusting to the Changing Market"

At this second annual regional summit, Piedmont Together will provide a project update, receive feedback on recommended regional strategies, prioritize model outputs with participants, and provide information on mixed use development projects. Following the Livable Communities Summit in the morning, participants are encouraged to attend the Equity Summit at 1:30 pm and the Economic Opportunities bus tour the following day.

Integrated Strategies for Successful Development: How to Make it Work Together

During the morning of November 14th the summit will focus on:

  • A Piedmont Together project update;
  • The Regional Strategic Actions that are being proposed;
  • The Possible Piedmont illustrated through Regional Model Scenarios;
  • Getting feedback from attendees on the Regional Strategic Actions and Regional Model outputs; and
  • Emma Littlejohn with The Littlejohn Group, LLC will talk about the challenges and benefits of developing economically integrated urban neighborhoods.

A representative from the Department of Housing and Urban Development has also been invited but their attendance has not been confirmed.

A light breakfast will be served beginning at 8:00am. The program will begin at 8:30am. Lunch will be on your own. Attendees will be given a list of local High Point restaurants to visit. We are also working on a food truck to be on site.

Opportunities for Everyone - Equity Summit II Continuing the Conversation

During the afternoon of November 14th we will hold Opportunities for Everyone: Equity Summit II. Our first, and perhaps the region’s first, equity summit was held back on August 7th. The attendees closed the summit with a desire to convene again. So that afternoon we hope to be joined by our Keynote Speaker and a representative from HUD for a discussion on equitable development and next steps for the group.

Piedmont Triad Economic Opportunities Tour

Then on November 15 Piedmont Together is offering a Piedmont Triad bus tour. This will be a great opportunity anyone, but especially for developers, bankers, and investors to hear from local communities about their plans and commitment to development opportunities. The tour will begin at four different locations throughout the region and visit four communities: Asheboro, Cooleemee, High Point, Lexington, and Randleman. Each bus will visit all four locations. Each community will highlight and discuss development opportunities and the city's commitments and plans for each site.
