OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM

Grid storage (3) The National Alliance for Advanced Technology Batteries (NAATBatt) is the trade association for advanced battery manufacturers and their supply chain partners doing business in the United States. Our mission is build a community of professionals working in advanced electrochemical energy storage that will help develop new markets and new technologies for our products in North America and around the world.

The 2014 NAATBatt Annual Meeting and Symposium wil be the fourth annual meeting of our association. This year's Symposium will focus on innovations in technology likely to make a major impact on advanced electrochemical energy storage markets. The Symposium will cover a range of topics rarely covered together in the same program. Our goal is to bring together all stakeholders in the industry, with a view towards building a better business community and a more profitable storage industry.

This year's Symposium will also focus in large part on distributed energy storage on the grid. The San Diego area, with its high rate of solar penetration, is a living power laboratory, demonstrating how electricity storage can be used to facilitate and supplement distributed generation technologies, such as PV solar systems, on the grid. San Diego Gas & Electric will host a special program on storage for Symposium attendees at its Energy Innovation Center. Attendees will also tour multiple distributed energy storage project sites operated by the University of California at San Diego.

There will be no better place to learn about emerging issues in electrochemical energy storage, and no better place to meet the people driving that industry, than at the NAATBatt 2014 Annual Meeting and Symposium this coming January in San Diego.

NAATBatt's trademark "Battery Innovation Summit": "Flash" presentations by 20 emerging companies looking for financing, licensing or partnership opportunities from other companies in the advanced battery industry.
An annual briefing by JCESR, the DOE battery hub centered at Argonne National Laboratory, about its progress in achieving the goal of increasing battery energy by five times in five years at one-fifth the cost.
A panel discussion on emerging safety issues concerning grid-connected energy storage projects.
A panel of independent power project developers that will discuss what it takes to develop an independent energy storage project on the grid and what developers are going to expect from their battery industry partners.
A presentation on the economics of second life EV battery use in stationary systems based for the first time on actual experience in the field.
Member update reports by 30 NAATBatt member firms highlighting in 7 minutes or less what the industry should know about what is going on at their company.

The registration fee is $950 for members and $1,350 for non-members for this three-day, all inclusive program. A special Spouses Program, for someone special in your life interested in tagging along for three days in San Diego in January, is offered for $250 (see details below).

Spouses Program

There is no better place to be in the Lower 48 during the middle of January than San Diego. This year's annual meeting will fall during the short week following the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. So why not make a holiday out of it?

NAATBatt's fundamental purpose is to build a community of professionals working in the advanced electrochemical energy storage industry. We would like to encourage members to bring their spouses and significant others with them to the Symposium. They will be welcome to join us for the receptions and the dinners. And the NAATBatt Spouses Committee is developing a program of activities to keep them busy and enjoying San Diego during the day.
