reFRESH series - Finding Money, Time, and a Place to Create

Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art

Johnson County Community College

12345 College Boulevard, Overland Park, KS 66210

Every artist - from emerging and mid-career to established - needs three basic things: money, time and a place to work. In this lively, informative session, Mira Bartók, founder of the arts blog, Mira's List, will discuss what kinds of grants and fellowships exist both in the U.S. and overseas (regional, local, international, academic, travel, project based, Fulbrights, genre and gender-specific and more), how to find them, and practical tips on the application process. She will also cover detailed research techniques, what kinds of international residencies are out there, as well as discuss crowd-funding and other innovative ways to finance non-mainstream creative projects and interdisciplinary collaborations. Plenty of time will be allotted for questions afterwards.
