We have received some wonderful gifts from Linda Lavin.  She has graciously given the Bargain Box beautiful clothes that we will be featuring in a fashion show and auctioning off. 

 

This beautiful beaded dress, jacket and shoes were worn by Linda Lavin on opening night of the"Lyons" at the Vinyard Theatre on October 11, 2011 in NY.

 

PREVIEW OF WHAT'S TO COME

   LINDA LAVIN became a household name as the titular waitress/mother in the sicom "Alice". 
During the nine seasons (1976-1985) the show was on the air,
she nabbed two Golden Globe awards and an Emmy nomination.

A special item donated from Linda's clothing collection is this unique sweater/shawl.  

This piece is a beautiful shade of red, 100% fine wool and made in Italy.

Karl Lagerfeld is a German fashion designer, artist and photographer based in Paris. He is the head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel as well as the Italian house Fendi, in addition to having his own label fashion house. It's easy to see that this is created by a brilliant designer.

This fabulous sweater/cape by MISSONI
has flowing lines accentuated by the sparkle of silver and gold metallic thread
which shows the elegance of the Missoni style.

HER WORKS HAVE BEEN TRANSLATED INTO TWENTY-TWO LANGUAGES. HER ARTICLES AND ESSAYS HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED IN ESQUIRE, NEW YORK, THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE.

Painting “My Study” by internationally renowned artist Inger Jerby of Taos N.M.

Donated by Sophy Burnham which she purchased in 1991 for $2,000.  The painting has hung in Sophy’s study (office) ever since.  She has loved it and is ready for it to move to a new home and to help out the Wilmington community in the process by helping the Bargain Box.  Thank you Sophy !!!

        HARRY JACKSON  A LEGEND IN HIS OWN TIME

He was a prominent realist artist known internationally for his paintings and bronze sculptures of cowboys and Indians,  and became life-long friends with Jackson Pollock. Jackson’s 70 plus- year art careerspanned genres and the globe. 
 
  Harry Jackson wore this hat for many years.  He donated and signed it for the Bargain Box in 2007 to help with it’s work in the community.  His book, hat and photo of him signing the hat will be part of this special auction item.

 

GEORGE MURRAY has generously donated several signed prints of sketches that he has created. 

Shown here is a print commemorating a TV series that is well known by most folks

and especially all of us from North Carolina.
