Future STEM Innovators!

The two-day conference will provide attendees an opportunity to learn about the latest updates for PLTW and connect with PLTW teachers, counselors and business and industry supporters from throughout the state of California.

This year’s conference program will include information regarding the NEW PLTW elementary school curriculum, being released next year, as well as updates and best practices for current PLTW courses and how the curriculum connects with the Common Core / College and Career Readiness Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. 

Conference Featured Speakers: 

Dr. Williard Daggett: Founder and Chairman of the International Center for Leadership in Education, is recognized worldwide for his proven ability to move K-12 education systems towards more rigorous and relevant skills and knowledge for all students. He has assisted a number of states and hundreds of school districts with their school improvement initiatives. Dr. Daggett has also collaborated with education ministries in several countries and with the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Governors Association, and many other national organizations. He serves on several advisory boards, including: NASA Education Advisory Board and USA Today (national newspaper) Education Advisory Board.

Warren M. Boley, Jr., President, Aerojet Rocketdyne: Boley joined Aerojet (now Aerojet Rocketdyne) in August 2012. He has more than 29 years of aerospace experience, most recently serving with the Pratt & Whitney business unit of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) where he held numerous leadership positions, including President of the Military Engines Division. After a 27-year career with Pratt & Whitney, Boley left the company to serve his family-owned business, Boley Tool and Machine Works, Inc., before joining Aerojet. Boley holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame as well as two Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Management/Finance from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also completed a Management Development program at Harvard Business School. Boley serves as a National Board Member for the Challenger Center, promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. To date, the GenCorp Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Aerojet Rocketdyne, has invested more than $200,000 in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) in the Sacramento Region beginning in 2007. The GenCorp Foundation has also supported Gateway Academy summer camps and PLTW high school scholarships in the Sacramento area. The GenCorp Foundation board believes Project Lead the Way is a proven strategy to promote STEM literacy in today’s students that will develop tomorrow’s employees.

This conference is for current and/or interested middle and high school counselors, teachers, administrators and employer partners to gain information about the Project Lead The Way program and how it prepares a diverse student population for professional careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Be sure to join us for the pre-conference session at 12:30pm on Thursday, February 20, 2014. This will be an opportunity for Project Lead The Way teachers /counselors/administrators to meet together by regions to discuss new ideas and best practices for all of the courses (GTT, Engineering, Biomedical) offered by PLTW. 

Individual Conference Registration: $175.00

This fee includes: Snack (Thursday Afternoon), Cocktail Recpetion (Thursday Evening), and Breakfast and Lunch (Friday).
