Keynote Presentation

Intersections of Race and Genomics Throughout the Research Trajectory: Implications for Cancer Disparities Alexandra Shields, PhD


Director of the Harvard/MGH Center on Genomics, Vulnerable Populations, and Health Disparities at the MGH Mongan Institute for Health Policy; Associate Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School; Co-Director of the Harvard Catalyst Health Disparities Research Program; and Associate Member of the Broad Institute.


Mentoring: Diversity and Impediments to Inclusion 
- Maggie Werner-Washburne, PhD

Recipient of the 2004 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring, and the 2011 Harvard Foundation Scientist of the Year Award. These awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to mentoring students and increasing the participation of minorities, women and disabled students in science, mathematics and engineering. Currently Dr. Wasburne is a Regents' Professor of Biology at the University of New Mexico.
