Using the ACT Matrix to establish a ProSocial milieu

This webinar will show you how the Matrix can be a dynamic tool in inpatient settings by empowering the severely mentally ill to move toward recovery and valued living.

You will learn how to:

  • Teach the staff the ProSocial Matrix using the "Double Loop".
  • Teach the staff how to teach patients the Matrix.
  • How to have patients monitoring their own valued and avoidance behaviors.

This webinar is for professionals and students who may be able to influence an inpatient unit toward a recovery oriented model of care that is simple and makes sense.

This webinar is unique in that it will show you a simple, yet powerful way of influencing an inpatient setting toward a recovery and valued living stance of care. Using the Matrix diagram you will show staff and patients a way out of the traditional medical model approach to inpatient care.

Steve Hayes, co-founder of ACT says, “The Matrix opens the door to ACT in a way that is direct, simple, and useful. Kevin is not just its developer: he a master in its use. He lays down a great foundation for a more psychologically flexible approach to life and work.”

Your Presenter: Kevin Polk, Ph.D. is a clincial psychologist who has devoted close to 20,000 hours to learning and simplifying ACT. His work culminated in the Matrix diagram for immediately engaging people in the psychological flexibility (ACT) point of view. While he sometimes does internatinal in-person training about the ACT Matrix, he most often present webinars. Dr. Polk started his career as an inpatient psychologist and was the director of an inpatient unit for several years.
