Orange Peel Transportation offers van service from ORF to the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside and will track flights to create groups of IEEE attendees. Orange Peel requires advance reservations. The more people that book, the lower the cost. One way pricing is: $30 for 1 passenger in the van; $16 each for 2 passengers, $11 each for 3, $10 each for 4 or more. Book online, call +1-757-463-7500, or send an email request and use group code IEEE.
Additional ground transportation options from ORF include taxis ($25-30) and James River Transportation vans, ($28 one way for one person, $5/person extra for groups). Reservations are encouraged but not required. Use convention code 13040 for 10% discount off the $28 price with a roundtrip reservation.
Amtrak train service to downtown Norfok, VA, is available from Northeast Corridor stops including Boston, New York, Newark Airport, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
A discounted room rate of $149, exclusive of taxes, is offered at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside hotel until 11-April at 5pm Eastern Time, based on availability within the room block. The room block dates are 10-May through 16-May; the group rate will be extended three days before and after the room block dates, if rooms are available. Reservations must be guaranteed by a credit card or a deposit for one night's room and tax. The group rate is not available from the hotel's main website. It is only available from the group reservation page. Anyone calling to book a room should reference the IEEE Interim Meeting when speaking to the reservation agent.
In room Internet is complimentary for reservations at the group rate. Discounted self-parking with in/out privileges is available at the Dominion Tower Parking Garage, next door to the Sheraton, for $7/day. Request a reentry pass before exiting the garage. Valet parking is $22/day for overnight hotel guests, and includes in/out prvileges. Event-only valet parking is $12/day for local guests.
Guests may change their arrival date, length of stay or cancel a reservation entirely up to 72 hours before check in without penalty.
Individuals who cancel a reservation less than 72 hours before check in will be charged for one night's stay. Individuals who change their arrival date less than 72 hours before check in may be charged for their previously reserved first night at the discretion of the hotel.
Failure to claim a reservation (No-Show) will result in a charge for one night's stay. This charge will be posted to the individual guest credit card provided to guarantee the room reservation.
The Sheraton charges an Early Departure Fee of a full night's stay for guests who depart prior to their confirmed departure date.
Any individual who attends any part of this interim meeting must register and pay a meeting fee. Registration and meeting fee options are as follow:
Early Registration before 5pm EDT Friday April 18, 2014
Late/Onsite Registration after 5pm EDT Friday April 18, 2014
The meeting fee covers AV equipment, network/Internet services, power hook-ups for laptop computers, continental breakfast, morning and afternoon refreshments, and meeting services and supplies.
The combined hotel room stays of 802.1 and 802.3 attendees covers the meeting rooms themselves. For this reason, anyone who is not a registered guest at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside must pay a higher meeting fee than attendees staying at the meeting hotel. The correct meeting fee must be paid prior to receiving your badge, which permits entrance to scheduled sessions.
If you register for this meeting and then are unable to attend, you must request cancellation of your registration no later than 5pm PDT Friday May 2, 2014 to receive a refund of your meeting fee.
