Format:
We have informally surveyed key participants from throughout the state found a significant interest in convening a large “Strategy Summit” as a kick-off for a series of events that would be hosted throughout 2014 in communities around the state. Such a series would have five main objectives:
In addition, the steering committee is pleased that Carol Redding, M.A., one of the original study fellows on the ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experience) study has agreed to join us as our keynote lunchtime speaker. Ms. Redding will also lead one of the afternoon roundtable strategy sessions.
We believe that Carol’s inspirational messages will be a crucial element in cementing enthusiastic change and coordination among youth providers and advocates throughout the state.
These events will serve two purposes:
Ultimate Goals:
Our goal is to ensure that families of children from 6-21 continue to have the necessary supports and intervention services to allow them to address challenges that they may face and overcome barriers to success in school, in the community, and beyond. We aim to bring together the key players - -with whom we’ve worked over the past decade - - to coordinate that successful vision. Through these events and coordination, we hope to establish a self-sustaining, momentum building, visionary creating collaborative that can effectively battle for the success of youth in our state for years to come.
Early Learning Programs are moving ahead, and have a great deal of momentum. Youth Development Programs need great attention so we can ensure that our children have success at home, in schools, in the community and in the long run as members of the workforce, families and society. The conference series hopes to bring all of these discussions together for a comprehensive and coordinated voice in support of evidence based models for these important efforts.
Who Should Attend?
Oregon Youth Development Council, Coordinated Care Organizations, County Health and Human Services Programs, Juvenile Programs, Oregon Youth Authority, Behavioral Health Providers, Experts from Oregon Non-Profits, Advocates, Policy Makers and other interested in School Aged Kids in our communities.
