Beginning ACT with the Matrix

During this webinar you will learn how to use the ACT Matrix as your entryway into the wonderful world of psychological flexibility.

ACT is also known as the "Psychological Flexibility Model." Both the ACT hexaflex and the Matrix have psychological flexibility in the center of the diagram. However, the Matrix is much, much easier to learn. Plus, you can start using it right away and then add ACT hexaflex stuff later if you need it.

This is much like learning to play a simple tune on the piano. With just a bit of practice you are making music. If you only need to play one simple song, you are good to go. If you want to learn more, the sky is the limit.

Either way you will be increasing psychlogical flexibility in others and yourself.

You will learn:
  • How to introduce the "Psychological Flexibility Point of View." You will learn that there is more than one way to introduce this point of view, and you are free to invent your own way of introducing it.
  • You will learn how to easily introduce what is known as Values work in ACT, giving people a powerful direction for valued living.
  • You will learn how easily show people the Unworkable Change Agenda. This is the essence of how people get stuck in language with no explaining required.
  • By then end of the webinar you will know how to send people into life noticing Toward and Away moves.
  • Above all you will learn how a compassionate, respectful stance toward others is inherent when working the matrix.

This course is for anyone interested in learning about ACT. It's also for anyone interested in teaching beginning ACT to others.

Donna R. says: "I went through the Matrix with 10 clients last week.  It's getting easier and I can feel it coming more naturally... People find it wonderful to be able to step back from their content and see it on the wall.  That really, really helps move clients quickly.

Steve Hayes, co-founder of ACT says, “The Matrix opens the door to ACT in a way that is direct, simple, and useful. Kevin is not just its developer: he a master in its use. He lays down a great foundation for a more psychologically flexible approach to life and work.”

Kevin Polk, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who enjoys making things simpler. He turned his attention to ACT in 2004, and simplified it into the Marix diagram in late 2009 (after about 15,000 hours of work). He is the co-editor of The ACT Matrix... to be published March 1, 2014 by New Harbinger. He conducts webinars, group and individual consultations, and the occasional in-person training.
