Join The Conversation

They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Acts 2:42

Join the Conversation is a fitting ministry theme this year to apply to Sisters in Scripture (SIS) as we join in conversation over a study in His Word.  The Lord says, “Call on Me and I will answer you and tell you great an unsearchable things you do not know!” (Jer. 31:3).  As we dive into God’s Word together we build meaningful relationships as we encourage and challenge one another to be transformed to His image.

At SIS we have some time to fellowship in our opening along with worship to prepare

our hearts before we study as well as praying together as a large group. After study the teaching in our classes,  prayer is an important element we also end with in our class smaller groups.  We end each session by breaking bread together at a closing lunch or evening supper.  Prayerfully consider which of the following classes you’ll enjoy as we live out Acts 2:42 together. So come along and Join the Conversation!

Philippians: A Life Changing NavPress Study. (Morning and Evening)

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by life’s circumstances? Feel like the world has dealt you an impossible hand? At some point, we all encounter such difficulties. The important thing to remember is that we are on this journey of life together—and God is leading us! He is always with us, even during the toughest times. We will learn from the example set by the Apostle Paul himself, who kept his faith strong, even in the most dire of circumstances. His ability to compose sincerely joyful letters, even while imprisoned, is a wonderful testimony of how you can “be Jesus’ presence”, no matter where you are! Learn what to do, where you can go, and how to find peace here and now, whatever life holds. Discover with us the secret of Paul’s joy, contentment and confidence.

Suggested Study Time: 1 ½ hours per week

David: Seeking a Heart Like His.      A Video Series by Beth Moore (Morning only with extended time*)

Do you know what is wonderful about God? He will never give up on you! When someone or something disappoints us, we can rest assured that God will be there to comfort and restore our heart in the way that only He can. Studying the example of the life of David, we will be reminded that God’s promise to forever abide with us is undoubtedly true. In examining this “man after God’s own heart,” David’s decisions will both delight and disappoint you. At times you will want to follow his example, and at others, you will desire to do the opposite. The important thing to remember is that God will still love and guide you, no matter what! If you have ever experienced doubt, temptation, loss and the like, this study is for you! Journey with us as we look into the life of David and discover how to love and serve God more fully, while at the same time understand more about your own unique place in His heart!

Suggested Study Time: This is a 5-day study with approximately 2 ½ hours per week of study. *We will be extending this class until 12:00 noon to allow adequate time for discussion, video, and prayer groups.

The Attributes of God, Vol. I&II by A.W. Tozer (Morning and Evening)

What do you desire most in your walk with God? Above all, Christians want to experience “righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,” while learning how to live their lives in a manner that is “pleasing to God.” (Rom. 14:17-18). To achieve this, we must strive to truly know and understand this God Whom we so desire to please. All the while, we need to continue to grow in our knowledge of Him. A.W. Tozer has written this series about God’s attributes. Exploring this study will be very helpful in the pursuit of our goal. A Study Guide, developed by David Fessenden, is included in each volume which will help us meditate on and understand what Tozer has taught. Join us in this exciting and challenging pursuit as we encourage one another to personally apply what we have learned. The more we learn about the amazing God we serve, the more we can know Him better!

Suggested Study Time: 2 hours per week
