Speaker biographies:
Captain Steven Sandorff, Head of Tanker Operations, Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S

Steven Sandorff started his career at sea as an apprentice with A.P. Møller in 1978 and graduated from the Nautical Academy in Svendborg with a Master’s degree in 1983.

He sailed as a deck officer on general cargo vessels, container vessels, tanker vessels, passenger vessels, roro vessels and heavylift/project vessels with A.P. Møller, D.F.D.S., Dannebrog and Elite Shipping, and gained his firstcommand as Master in 1995.

He served as a lieutenant in the Danish Navy. He also worked occasionally as a Supercargo, and for several years he was a maritime expert assessor within the Danish legal system.

In 2000, he started his shore-based career as Head of the Tanker Operations Department with Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S. In the 13 years he has, amongst others, been involved in the establishment of Norient Product Pool where besides his duties in NORDEN, also headed their Operations Department.

Today, his focus as an Owner Operator is to ensure that all parties co-operate to optimize the daily operation. This includes in particular that Masters, commercial, technical and other shore staff as well as external contractors suchas agents and suppliers, are all heard and involved when it comes to making the decisions needed. 
Jens P Buchhave, managing director, Terntank Rederi

Jens P Buchhave is 45 years of age. He has a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He has been Managing Director of Terntank Rederi A/S since 1st June 2013.

He was previously 

  • 8 years with Clipper Group A/S (newbuilding contracting, M&A, Risk Management)
  • 2 ½ years with Danish Investment Foundation as Director/Project Manager (sourcing and managing investment projects)
  • 11 years with MAN B&W Diesel as Finance Manager.

Brian Bender Madsen - Head of Machinery and system - Knud E Hansen A/S.
In this role he is responsible for the company awareness on marked developments for machinery and electrical systems and implementation of new technology and products for Knud E Hansen designed Vessels. Brian Bender Madsen has a combined 15 years' experience in Ship Design, new product development and Machinery and Electrical product implementation. Prior employment; National Oilwell Varco, Mærsk Ship Design A/S and MAN B&W.
