What is the Bigger Game?
Rick Tamlyn co-created The Bigger Game in 2001 as a way to inspire executives, leaders, and individuals to get out of their comfort zones and invent the life they want.
The Bigger Game is a concept that will take you only nine minutes to understand, and a lifetime to play. It looks like a simple tic-tac-toe board, with descriptives such as "Gulp" and "Bold Action" attached to each square. The Bigger Game was designed with the premise that life itself is one big game. And if life is a game, then why not play one that excites, fulfills, and challenges you?
The Bigger Game has caught the eye of Fortune 100 companies, non-profits, churches, groups, and individuals around the world. At its core, The Bigger Game helps people find their compelling purpose. It is an innovative model that guides you to create a set of circumstances that will intentionally design who you want to become.
The Format
In the Bigger Game training, each of the nine components on the Bigger Game board are revealed: comfort zones, hunger, compelling purpose, assess, bold action, gulp, sustainability, allies, and investment. Each section of the board will be explored trough a combination of presentation, videos, experienial exercises, and small group interactions. The structure of the 2-day experience includes:
• Day 1 (AM) - Learn the Bigger Game Board
• Day 1 (PM) - Play the Bigger Game
• Day 2 (AM) - Develop you, the Bigger Game player
• Day 2 (PM) - Name and plan your Bigger Game
Some of you will be able to name your Bigger Game by the end of the workshop. For others, you will begin the process of discovery about yourself and what it is you want your life to be about. You are on the Bigger Game Board all the time, whether you have the name of the game or just an idea of what it might be.
Workshop Outcomes
Upon completion of this workshop you will:
- Have a full understanding of the Bigger Game Board and its concepts
- Learn to use Bigger Game as a reference tool for a more fulfilling life
- Discover how each square of the Bigger Game board relates to you and your Bigger Game
- Declare a "working title" for your Bigger Game
- Discover your compelling purpose - what you are about!
- Begin to make a doing / action plan
- Have a clear ability to look at the Bigger Game Board and know what is needed next
- Move from stuck to action!
