 9TH INTERNATIONAL PATHS®  LEARNING CONFERENCE 


 mAY 15 & 16, 2014 CLEVELAND, oh

Since 2009 the Cleveland Metropolitan School District has been committed to teaching PATHS in all classrooms PreK-5th grade.  All teachers, support teachers and principals have been trained. They also have three certified affiliate trainers. The Cleveland Humanware team has been essential along with the hard work of the Cleveland teacher's union in this large scale effort.

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was founded in Cleveland in  1983. To date, 701 people have been inducted.
  • Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, was from Cleveland.
  • Cleveland is home to the world's largest indoor Ferris wheel,      built in 1985. It stands more than 120 feet high.

This conference is for all experienced PATHS®  teachers, coordinators, researchers, administrators, and trainers. The purpose of this working conference is to share new ideas and innovations. This conference is not a training for people who want to learn to use the PATHS®   curriculum for the first time.

Keynote Speakers:

Roger P. Weissberg is CASEL's president and CEO. He is also NoVo Foundation Endowed Chair in Social and Emotional Learning, LAS Distinguished Professor, and Professor of Psychology and Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where he directs the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Research Group. For the past three decades Weissberg has trained scholars and practitioners about innovative ways to design, implement and evaluate family, school and community interventions.

Celene Domitrovich is the Director of Research at CASEL.  She served for 14 years as the Assistant Director of the Prevention Research Center at Penn State University before joining CASEL. She maintains her academic affiliation with Penn State and is a visiting Research Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Celene is the primary author of the Prek/K PATHS® Curriculum. In addition to evaluating that program, she has conducted several randomized trials of school-based prevention programs for children in elementary and middle school. 

PLEASE NOTE:  Breakfast and afternoon snack will be provided as part of the conference.  Lunch will be on your own.  There are many great restaurants within walking distance of the conference location and more specific information will be available with your conference registration packet.
