The Program

Increase your knowledge on the critical estate, retirement and succession planning issues that come about with planning for the small business owners and professionals. Not onlydo you have to go over with the client the more typical estate planning questions like family income protection, reducing estate taxes and estate equalization, but now throw in the fact that we have an asset (the business) that could likely make up the majority of the estate.

About our speakers:

Richard joined MassMutual in 2010 as an attorney for the Estate and Business Planning team.  Prior to joining the team, Richard was a MassMutual Financial Services Professional with the Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services agency based in Farmington, CT.  Before joining MassMutual, Richard was the
Vice President and department head of the Phoenix Life Insurance Company
Advanced Marketing team for nearly 10 years. Richard has also been a partner in the Trusts and Estates department of a major Connecticut and Massachusetts law firm focusing on complex tax and legal matters related to business, estate, financial and tax planning.

Rakesh joined MassMutual in 2000 as Assistant Vice President for COLI/BOLI Sales and Marketing in MassMutual’s Large Corporate Markets area. In 2002, he was promoted to Second Vice President of COLI/BOLI Sales and Marketing. In late 2006, Rakesh moved to head up the newly formed Advanced Sales Concept Management group (ASCM).

ASCM is responsible for the development, promotion, training and tracking of boutique or advanced sales concepts (internal or third party generated) that promote Whole Life sales

Stephen A. Toross, CPA
Tax Partner, Certified Public Accountant, Connecticut

Stephen Toross has over 25 years of experience in public accounting with expertise across all facets of federal income tax laws and regulations surrounding corporations, partnerships and individuals. His areas of concentration include real estate and construction, debt and equity financing arrangements, transaction structuring, strategic business planning, and tax planning services for closely-held businesses and high net worth individuals. Stephen joined the Firm as a tax partner in 2011.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master's degree in taxation from the University of Hartford.

Stephen is a licensed Certified Public Accountant with the State of Connecticut and is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), the MetroHartford Alliance, the Hartford Tax Club, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is a frequent lecturer on tax-related topics with both the CSCPA and AICPA.
