Presentation: Kansas City Water Services has installed a number of stormwater BMPs and there are more on the way. Building community acceptance is critical to the successful implementation of green infrastructure. This presentation will highlight the "extra" benefits of using stormwater BMPs, explore the psychology of BMP acceptance, and will include images of beautiful stormwater BMPs to inspire.
Speaker: Lisa Treese, RLA, LEEDŽ AP, Kansas City Water Services
Bio: Lisa is a landscape architect with nearly ten years experience in practice. She started her landscape architectural career with Wallace, Roberts & Todd (WRT)in Coral Gables, Florida, working on national site design and planning projects. She returned to Kansas City and worked at Vireo (formerly Patti Banks Associates) for over six years on regional projects rooted in environmental sustainability. In November of 2012, she began working for Water Services as part of the Overflow Control Program and supports other departmental divisions. She is responsible for in forming decisions related to green infrastructure and site design, monitoring green infrastructure maintenance agreements, and advising internal maintenance programs. Lisa holds a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture and a secondary major in Natural Resources & Environmental Science from Kansas State University.
