The Interactive Launch Competition pits MBA Student Teams in a contest to create winning strategies for advanced video products, services and apps.
Each Student Team is matched with a Mentor Company and given case study tasks to support their mentor's product with business and marketing solutions. The Student Teams work on their tasks for several weeks.
During the competition, each Student Team has 10 minutes to present their solutions before a Judges Panel of industry executives.
It's like a hackathon but more about business, marketing and deployment of real-world technologies. Call it a 'launch-athon.'
Each Mentor Company gets support from top MBA students while providing a valuable learning experience for the next generation of industry leaders.
Plus the winning Student Teams win cash.
The Interactive Launch Competition promotes innovative thinking about cool new video technologies and services.
The event is produced and hosted by Craig Leddy of Interactive TV Works, who teaches How Cable Works courses and is a leader in industry education.
Interactive Launch Competitions have been held in New York and Denver; this will be the first at The Cable Show.

By becoming a Mentor Company, you support the next generation of industry leaders, receive support for your latest innovation from a team of top business students and showcase your brand and products at a prestigious event. Each Mentor Company gets matched with an MBA team that will work on case study tasks to support your product.
Who should participate? Any TV service provider, programmer or tech supplier with an emerging video product, service or app. Recent submissions addressed multi-screen video, second-screen apps, interactive news, on-demand stores, media gateways and advanced advertising.
What's required? Mentor Companies provide product information and hold a meeting or conference calls with their Student Team to help them tackle their case study tasks and support your product. We understand you're busy so we supplement your support with our own sessions with the students. Mentor Companies pay a sponsorship fee to support the event and provide cash prizes for the winners. The sponsorship includes company inclusion in all event promotions and event materials.
How do we join? Contact Craig Leddy, producer and host, at cleddy@interactivetvworks.com or 914-310-6831. Hurry! The competition is getting underway.
‘The whole event from beginning to end was very engaging, from the intro discussion with the judges to all the student presentations and final keynote. It worked for the schools, the sponsors, the judges and the audience.’ – Mentor Company rep
By creating a Student Team, you'll work with a top company on the latest video technologies and strategies. You'll compete against other Student Teams and strut your stuff before a Judges Panel of executives and an industry audience that includes media recruiters. Oh, and you might win a cash prize and start your career as a media mogul.
Who should participate? Student Teams typically consist of about 3 to 5 MBA students who are involved in a media & entertainment program. Students should have an interest in learning about the latest video technologies and thinking innovatively about how to deploy and market them successfully in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
What's required? No fees are required, just a willingness to apply fresh thinking. Once you recruit team members, you'll be matched with a Mentor Company and receive a case study with tasks to support your mentor's product, along with a list of Rules & Timelines to guide you. You can work with your Mentor Company through conference calls or face-to-face meetings if possible. We understand you're busy so we also provide separate consulting sessions and team guidance. Once you develop solutions for your tasks, you'll create a 10 minute presentation to present before the Judges Panel, which will determine the best solutions that support the products.
How do we join? Contact Craig Leddy, producer and host, at cleddy@interactivetvworks.com or 914-310-6831. Hurry! The competition is getting underway.
