What is New Directions?
New Directions is a Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) "self-directed" waiver. It allows persons who are intellectually disabled (and meet waiver eligibilty requirements) to choose and design their own waiver services and supports, with the assistance of their chosen team, and within the guidelines of the program.
Persons in the waiver can design their own services, interview and hire their own staff, and set their own payment rates to meet their disability-related needs. New Directions gives people with disabilities the opportunity to live independently and have more control of their own lives.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Only persons who have received New Directions training before and want to continue to provide Support Broker services in the New Directions Waiver. If you do not have Certification, then you need to attend the Initial Support Broker Training. Certification is valid for 2 years. Trainees will be required to demonstrate core competency by passing a written exam. Registration is required as space is limited.
Please note: There will be no admittance once the training has begun.
