We are presenting two Renaissance Cornerstone Awards this year reflecting the importance to Dundalk's renewal of honoring our heritage and ensuring our sustainability:

The Dundalk-Patapsco Neck
Historical Society and Museum
2014 Renaissance Cornerstone Award

Staffed entirely by volunteers, the DPNHS preserves and promotes our rich 345-year history through programs, exhibits, and the maintenance of the museum and library.  Their Defenders Day event celebrates our contributions 200 years ago in the Battle of North Point to shaping our nation's identity.

The Back River Restoration Committee
2014 Renaissance Cornerstone Award
The BRRC works tirelessly to restore the health of the tidal portion of the Back River watershed-- and "tireless" is what's needed for a river that is known as one of Maryland's most polluted.  Their volunteers remove litter, plant trees, and make connections between safeguarding the environment and our future.

Our 2014 Milestone Awardees have each in their own way made tremendous
contributions to increasing the vibrancy of our communities:

2014 Renaissance Milestone Awardees:
Fred Thiess
The late Fred Thiess was a longtime community leader and activist, heavily involved in Dundalk youth recreational leagues and community organizations.  Fred also served as legislative aide to State Senator Norman Stone.  We remember and honor Fred for his role in the lives of so many young people and as a bridge builder between many community organizations.
Angel Ball
Many know her as the mega force behind the Mega Egga Hunt, the producer/promoter for the summer Concerts in the Park series, the Big Kid organizing the Kid Zone at Dunfest, the manager of the Dunmanway Aprartments, and so much more.  We honor her endless energy and initiative to make the community a better place for all ages.  Angel has also been honored as Dundalk's 2014 Citizen of the Year by the Optimist Club of Dundalk.
Fran Taylor
Fran volunteers at greening projects with the Edgemere Greening Society and the DRC.  He is Vice President of the North Point Peninsula Community Coordinating Council.  He is Chairman of the Baltimore County War of 1812 Bicentennial Advisory Committee, which promotes the 200th anniversary of the Battle of North Point.  Fran shows us how many different ways an individual can make a difference for Dundalk.
