Wisconsin Environmental Health Association Event 

You are invited to attend the 1 1/2 day WEHA Spring Education conference at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Tuesday April 15-16, 2014. WEHA is partnering with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program that presented "Look out for Lead" conferences in the past!

8:45-10:00 Providing Services for Lead Exposed Children in Response to the New (2012) CDC Lead Recommendations
Why CDC changed the intervention level, the science behind it and how state and local health departments are responding. 10:15-Noon What Strategies are Working to Create Lead-Safe Housing? Combining Carrots and Sticks
Strategies, some incentive-based (carrots) and others regulation-based (sticks) that can be implemented locally to make housing lead-safe to protect children. Local Health Departments form a panel to discuss a variety of nuisance and health hazard policies and enforcement.
3:45-4:30 Closing remarks- door prizes and Lead-Safe Work Pactices tour answers
4:30-6:00 Meet & Greet with cash bar, hors d'oeuvres and photo contest

Day 2:
8:30-9:20 Waterborne Diseases
Laura Suppes presents on waterborne diseases such as Cryptosporidium.
9:20-10:10 Rabies
James Kazmierczak and Chris Gabel present on interesting rabies cases.
10:10-10:20 AM Break
10:20-11:10 Allergy Free Dining
Lars Johnson presents on methods and products to maintain allergen free dining.
11:10-11:40 Climate Change Through Healthy Homes
Michael Laiosa, PhD presents on how renovation practices that improve insulation and heating efficiency can reduce fossil fuels that lead to climate change and chronic diseases.
11:40 Closing remarks and Larger door prizes
