Comments about RokDoc MetaStore

"The open system will solve the problem of losing projects in the company's database, because they were worked on by someone who has left the company, and no-one else remembers what they were working on."
- Digital Energy Journal

"Ikon Science will be using the software internally, to help keep track of the studies which the company has done. We're going to be ourselves a super user of our own product."
- Phillip Neri, VP of Marketing, Ikon Science

Ikon Science & Social

The Ikon team looks forward to welcoming you at our next Science & Social event at the Geological Society.

For this afternoon technology seminar, we have lined up a rich programme of workflow orientated presentations, case studies and software demonstrations, designed to allow the geoscientist to easily and effectively apply quantitative interpretation techniques to their day-to-day activities.  Scroll down for the agenda.

At this event, we will be proudly introducing Ikon MetaStore and reviewing our recently completed Roknowledge CNS study.

What is the Ikon MetaStore?
Ikon MetaStore is an ‘open’ knowledge base of rock properties, relationships and analytics, capturing rock property data together with interpretations generated in Ikon’s flagship RokDoc tool along with other sources.  With high levels of security and a flexible searching system, the Ikon Metastore will add value by making rock properties data, including pressure data & complete .rok projects available in a central repository.

Roknowledge Central North Sea (CNS)
The CNS study represents a significant step forward in the evolution of Ikon Roknowledge products, bringing together borehole data from an increasingly wide variety of sources to provide an integrated geological and geophysical database for exploration, appraisal and development activities.

The study delivers insight into the key geological processes (burial diagenesis, overpressure development etc.) that control and impact reservoir and non-reservoir (seismic) behaviour across some twenty separate stratigraphic formations spanning the Eocene to Permian.

This extensive rock property database and regionally consistent interpretation provides today’s interpreters with the tools they require to confidently develop, test and constrain their geological models and well prognoses against seismic observations.

See below for the outline agenda.

You will meet key players of the Ikon Science management, senior QI staff and members of the RokDoc support team.

Please register if you would like to attend and pass this invite on to other potential delegates, it is important that everyone is registered as spaces are limited.

We hope you are able to join us!

Agenda

11:30 - Registration and buffet lunch
Get to know your peers, grab a bite to eat and collect a notebook before the afternoon's activities begin.

12:15 - Welcome address and introduction
From Vispi Dumasia, VP EAME

12:30 - Find the rocks and the fluids will follow: rock physics in the mainstream interpretation workflow
Case studies and examples of rock physics driven methods for prospect risking and ranking and AVO as a tool for lithology prediction in exploration and development settings.
Kester Waters, QI Manager EAME

13:15 - Coffee break

13:30 - RokDoc software demonstration
From rock physics to reservoir characterisation
Applying learnings from well based analysis to seismic data. Practical aspects of the characterisation workflow using RokDocQED.
Kester Waters, QI Manager EAME

15:00 - Coffee break

15:15 - RokDoc software demonstration
Workflow tools in RokDoc

Overview of the workflow tools in RokDoc and the new Petrel* Rock Physics Workflow.
Sean Bale, Software Geoscientist

15:35 - Workflow for Inversion Feasibility and Practical Aspects of Low Frequency Modelling
An overview of log based methods for determining seismic lithology and fluid attributes.  The second part of this talk will explore the uncertainties in the low frequency model building process.

Nick Huntbatch, Geoscientist

16:15 - RokDoc MetaStore Introduction & Roknowledge CNS Overview

Using the RokDoc MetaStore, we will show the offerings of this unique study.
Paul O'Brien, Commercial Director & Kester Waters, QI Manager EAME

17:15 - Interactive Q&A
Your opportunity to seek advice, offer software feedback and influence priorities for enhancements and future direction.

Afterwards
You are welcome to stay as long as you like for refreshments at the Geological Society after the Q&A session, there will then be an informal invite to a nearby pub for discussions to continue.
