A statewide event celebrating oysters, seafood and a healthy coast.
Saturday, March 1, 2014
Hatteras, Swansboro, Wilmington and Raleigh
Oyster roasts, seafood tours, fish fries, music, boat cruises, coastal crafts, story-telling, wine-tastings and more! It's all taking place in four locations on March 1.
We’re celebrating oysters and their role along our coast. In addition to being a culinary treat, oysters are critical to coastal water quality and habitat. Healthy oyster beds are a sign of good water quality. (One oyster can filter up to 35 gallons of water per day.) And they provide food and habitat for more than 300 organisms, including crabs, shrimp and all kinds of fish.
Celebrations are taking place on March 1 at the following locations:
Oden's Dock in Hatteras, click here for details.
Historic Downtown Swansboro, click here for details.
Tidal Creek Cooperative Food Market in Wilmington, click here for details.
Natty Greene's in Raleigh, click here for details.

The statewide event is sponsored by the Swansboro Tourism Development Authority and Restoration Systems LLC.
