What is Colorado Land Link?
Colorado Land Link increases opportunities in farming and ranching by helping to create equitable, secure and affordable access to agricultural land through various management and lease agreement structures. It offers solutions for transitioning non-productive farmland into productive agriculture. Farmers are provided tools that offer new approaches to business models and technical skills that redefine the possibilities of high altitude agriculture. Thus, farmers and ranchers gain stability and a chance to play a significant role in strengthening the local food economy of the valley and the maintenance of its agricultural heritage for years to come. What is the 2nd Annual Land Link Forum?
This year's Forum will focus on farm and ranch succession and transfer planning. The forum will address transition and tenure strategies that facilitate the entry of next generation agricultural producers while providing innovative and appropriate solutions for retiring farmers and ranchers, as well as landholders. It will be an excellent opportunity for existing farmers and ranchers to link with agricultural providers who specialize in farm and ranch succession planning. Aspiring farmers and ranchers seeking land access will have a chance to connect with landowners and agricultural professionals who support the next generation of producers. What is the Certified Farm Succession Coordinator Training?
The International Farming Transition Network (IFTN) is offering this training for individuals interested in becoming a Certified Farm Succession Coordinator. This new training is offered specifically for agricultural professionals, service providers, and organizational leaders who work with retiring farmers and ranchers on farm transfer issues.
We are at a pivotal period in American agriculture with over 70% of U.S. farms set to transition during the next 15 years and over 400 million acres of farmland are expected to change hands during this time. The economic future of our nation's agriculture depends on next generation farmers and ranchers' ability to access land and agricultural enterprise. Many farm and ranch operators are realizing the importance of creating a succession plan and the value of a skilled facilitator to lead the process of exploring options, coordinating communication, and conflict management. This training will offer participants insight on the barriers to farm/ranch succession, strategies on working with families, facilitation tools to guide the process, and opportunities to consider real-life examples of farm transfer conflicts.
