A team player is one who commits to a shared purpose and set of values and who puts the team goals before personal goals in the workplace.  When the team commitment is high, work groups are more productive, and each team member enjoys a more satisfying work environment, along with personal and career growth.

Team players assess how they can contribute to teamwork. They participate in meetings, volunteer for special assignments, generate new ideas, work on improving their skills, and generally add value to their team.  Team players analyze where they can make a positive contribution to the team.  Team players seek a high level of cooperation.
