Citizen Architect

a film about Samuel Mockbee and his Rural Studio

Good design is wonderful, but what if your work really makes a difference in lives and communities?

Citizen Architect  tells the story of the late architect, Samuel Mockbee, who believed that planners, designers and developers can - and sometimes should - make a difference for people and neighborhoods, especially those with fewer resources.

How can professionals related to the built environment weave social responsibility and, yes, compassion, into their work?

The evening will include special guests from Building on Hope, an organization that is a shining example right here in New Hampshire of Mockbee's philosophy in action.  Building on Hope provides "extreme makeovers" to non-profit facilities, relying on volunteer citizens and professionals.  They will speak about their upcoming project in Amherst.
