Push Hands 4 and Above
Dear Friends,
Building on the work of our recent Summer and Winter Trainings, the curriculum for the first week is focused on integrating the feeling of Whole Body – Whole Being and adherence (“Filling the Sail”) into our push hands study. Together these are transforming our push hands and sword fencing into a vibrant and viable art as we always envisioned.
This first week provides advanced training only – no other classes or apprenticeships to teach or take. Consequently, you will not miss you own most advanced level of classes to teach something else. You can devote your energy to working your own level and advancing the level of embodiment within the whole school.
Recognizing that it takes about five days to relax into this new work, the second week, while also offering public classes, will continue to have time dedicated to practicing our advanced work together.
You are welcome to attend the first week only, both first and second weeks, or the second week only. The second week will also offer opportunities for apprentices to teach the public levels with new teaching partners.
The tentative schedule and other training details are outlined below.
Best,
David Goodell

Meals
The food is superb -- expertly prepared from local, mostly organic, fresh-picked produce, meat, fish and eggs. End of July is a great time of year for local produce, berries, and fruit. No matter your special dietary needs, so long as you let us know in advance, Kirsten, the chef, will make sure you are fed with the love and goodness your own mom would want for you. Maybe even better. I cannot recommend her food highly enough.
Accommodations
Whidbey Institute offers very comfortable shared and small private rooms onsite in the Farmhouse, at Granny's house, three small, rustic cabins, and a beautiful meadow surrounded by tall evergreens for tent camping. (Please do not bring your camper van or trailer as they do not have a place for you to stay in them.)
What to Bring
The weather here in the summer is usually sunny, in the 70’s with a light breeze during the day. Nights typically cool off to the high 50s. There are places to hike and beaches a short drive away, however, the water is cold. Great for walking the beach or wading, but chilly for swimming. Based on that, I suggest you bring the basic necessities listed below:
Before or after the training, consider allowing time to explore some of the nearby national parks, such as the Olympic National Park, Mount Ranier, and the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, Canada, with their unparalleled beauty and diverse eco-systems. Bring your hiking shoes and camera!
