According to the World Health Organization, approximately 1 in 700 births result in a baby born with cleft lip and/or cleft palate. In underdeveloped countries, these infants are at a high risk of rejection, isolation, and nutrition deficiency. Due to the lack of healthcare access and funds, many of these parents abandon the children, and they become vulnerable to predators that harvest organs or sell children to trafficking.
