Jennifer Allen, "Altered and Adorned" a Two-Day Participatory Workshop 

 

Jennifer received her BFA from the University of Alaska Anchorage (2002) and an MFA from Indiana University (2006). In addition to a formal education, she worked full time as a studio assistant for Bliss Pottery (1998-2002) in Anchorage. Jennifer also studied ceramics at Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Crafts as a post-bacc student.

Among her achievements, Jennifer was awarded the 2006-2007 Taunt Fellowship at the Archie Bray Foundation, was recognized as an emerging artist at the 2008 NCECA Conference and was named the 2008 Myer Fellow Resident Artist at West Virginia University. Jennifer exhibits her work internationally and nationally. In addition to exhibitions and gallery representation, her work is showcased in several collections worldwide. She currently teaches ceramics part time at West Virginia University.

Lecture, meet & greet Jennifer Allen

Saturday, May 17th, 10:00am - 5:00pm 
10:00 - 11:00am  Wheel demos on simple altering techniques including pleating plates, stamping cup forms, throwing without a bottom and tips on throwing larger forms without having to trim them.
11:00am - 12:00pm  Participants will practice techniques
12:00 - 1:00pm  Lunch Break
!:00 - 2:00pm  Darting Techniques
2:00 - 3:00pm  Participants will practice techniques
3:00 - 4:00pm   Utilizing bisque molds, making slab spouts/hollow handles & pulling handles
4:00 - 5:00pm   Participants will practice techniques

Sunday, May 18th, 10:00am - 5:00pm
10:00 - 11:00am  Decoration techniques for greenware and demonstration on stamp making, slip trailing & sgraffito.
11:00 - 12:00pm  Participants will practice techniques
12:00 - 1:00pm  Lunch Break
1:00 - 2:00pm  Decoration demonstration - applying decoration to bisqueware. 
2:00 - 5:00pm  Participants will practice techniques.  Please bring cone 10 bisqueware with you to decorate
