Is your child:

  • really intense?
  • highly sensitive?
  • having trouble at school?
  • an absract/complex/logical/insightful thinker?
  • preoccupied with their own thoughts?
Does your child:
  • need less sleep
  • throw more intense tantrums than other kids?
  • ask probing questions?
  • get really deep into their interests or have a wide range of interents?
  • have a highly developed curiousity?
  • seem to think or operate "outside" the box?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, your child may be gifted or twice-exceptional -- and our 90-minute parenting workshop is for YOU!

Twice exceptional (2e) is a child who is simultaneously gifted and has a learning difference. The intensity and asynchronous development of gifted and 2e children can make parenting a particular challenge.

This Evening Workshop: An Introduction to Parenting Tools for Gifted & Twice-Exceptional (2e) Children will take place on Thursday March 20, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm,  at Summit Center Santa Monica. Parent Educator Melanie Prager will introduce the characteristics of gifted and 2e children and offer techniques for providing you and your child with the support you need!

Melanie Prager, J.D., C.P.E., is Summit Center's parent educator. Melanie co- Parenting Gifted & 2d founded Empowered Parenting in 2004 and has been teaching parenting courses in the LA area ever since.  She is dedicated to educating others with the same parenting tools that she and her husband consistently apply -- to make parenting easier, more effective and more enjoyable.  Melanie is a certified parent educator trained in Positive Discipline; Redirecting Children's Behavior, Reflective Parenting; and Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG). She is the mother of 3.

This workshop provides an excellent introduction to Summit Center's six-week parenting course Empowered Parenting for Gifted & 2e Children, which begins April 24.

NOTE: Registration is now closed. Limited tickets will be available at the door tonight, $15 - cash or check only.
