Communicating Across Cultures

As communicators, we are expected to understand and navigate the multi-cultural and multi-layered waters of society. In a diverse city such as Washington, D.C., we need to have an even stronger grasp on how to best communicate across generations and genders, with minority populations, and to people who speak English as a second language.

Our discussion panel will explore the cultural sensitivities that we should all be aware of, how to navigate and utilize the multi-cultural media, and the strongest strategies to best reach your diverse, target audiences.

The panel will bring together a variety of notable women from academia, local government, and a woman and minority-owned boutique agency. You don’t want to miss the chance to hear how these women are communicating across cultures to shift behavior, change attitudes and improve understanding.

Please join WWPR, in partnership with Ketchum, for a panel discussion and Q&A with local, multi-cultural communications experts on Thursday, May 15, 12:00 noon – 1:30 p.m. at Ketchum, 2000 L Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington, D.C. 20036. Drinks and dessert will be provided and attendees are invited to bring a bag lunch.

The panel will be moderated by Diane R. Johnson (@ladydi_1908), M.P.H., Vice President/Account Supervisor in Ketchum DC’s Health Affairs specialty.

Panelists include:

Cost: Free for WWPR & PRSA members; $20 for non-members.
