Spring 2014 - Seabird & Whale Tales Excursion

 Join NECWA for our annual spring offshore excursion!

Join the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA) for our all day marine excursion to view seabirds, whales, dolphins, seals, basking sharks and ocean sunfish along the Mass coast. Our upcoming Seabird & Whale Tale excursion this spring is scheduled for Sunday, June 8th from 8 am until 4 pm. NECWA is a volunteer, non-profit organization so all proceeds go to support our research, education and conservation projects and activities.

Tickets: $90 pre-registration

after May 31st, ticket price increases to $100

Group registration is also available. 

Enjoy our guided wildlife commentary by amazing guest naturalists. Our guest naturalists for this trip will include:

  • David Clapp (Natural History Services)
  • Jim Sweeney (South Shore Bird Club)
  • Krill Carson (NECWA / Captain John Whale Watching and Fishing Tours)              
Travel aboard the “Tails of the Sea”, a 110’ luxury commercial whale-watching vessel owned and operated by Captain John Whale Watching and Fishing Tours (www.captjohn.com). Seating is limited to ensure spacious seating arrangements and rail space. 

Leave from the Plymouth Town Pier at 8 am sharp and return by 4 pm.

Offshore activities include:  plankton tow and demonstration; chumming for seabirds and our free onboard nature raffle

Sail in Luxury

Tails of the SeaSail aboard the "Tails of the Sea", a luxury whale-watching vessel owned and operated by Captain John Boats out of Plymouth Harbor.

She is a 110' vessel with an upper and lower deck. On the lower deck are restrooms, a heated cabin with seats and tables and a walk-out pulpit. The upper deck provides an open seating area with forward viewing for wildlife viewing

Hampton Inn & Suites in Plymouth will once again be offering our Seabird & Whale Tale passengers a special hotel deal. Stay at Hampton Inn the night before the trip for a reduced rate of only $109.00. This rate includes a continental breakfast and shuttle service to and from the dock on Sunday morning. Fundraising Event for NECWA

This marine adventure is an annual fundraising event for NECWA and supports marine wildlife education, research and conservation in the New England area.

Assistance provided by Captain John Whale Watching and Fishing Tours, South Shore Bird Club, Natural History Services and Bridgewater State University.

Tax Deductible Donation

NECWA will provide a card acknowledging the allowable tax-deductible portion of the cost of your ticket. NECWA is a registered 501(c) 3 organization. All proceeds from this trip benefit marine education and wildlife conservation in the New England area.

Cancellation - If the trip is canceled by May 31st due to lack of interest or by June 8th due to inclement weather offshore: you will be notified and refunded $80 per cruise ticket. NECWA will keep $10 as a registration fee. The determination for weather cancellation will be made by the captain of Captain John Boats either on Saturday or early Sunday morning (the day of the cruise).
