After a couple tough years, credit unions are looking toward a dynamic future and together, in the true cooperative spirit, moving Onward and Upward.

Plan to attend this year’s Credit Union Association of New Mexico convention, mingle with your peers, and hear inspiration and strategies for progressing into our future together.

The event kicks off Wednesday, June 4, with a charity tournament on the Isleta Eagle Golf Course. Proceeds, as always, go to UNM Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network.

Later that evening, have dinner and see what our strategic partners have to offer at the Exhibit Hall reception.

The second day of convention will be a busy one, starting with Jeff Compton’s presentation on the benefits of well-developed, effective communication skills.

Next, PolicyWorks CEO Justin Hupfer will update us on Congress and compliance. We’ll also get updates from our strategic partners CUNA Mutual Group and Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union

This year’s business meeting will be historic, with the newly restructured Board of Directors, our new CUANM CEO, and the introduction of the new at-large director.

Jeff Rendel will discuss how to develop, nurture and uphold political relationships and influence for the benefit of the credit union movement. 

CUNA Mutual Group’s Scott Knapp will survey the 2014 economic and financial market outlook with the global economy at a crossroads and changes in the fundamentals.

Late afternoon, meet and chat about credit union issues in a relaxed atmosphere with some of our state and national lawmakers at the exclusive Capitol Club Reception.

All work and no play is no fun at all, so we’ll cap off the day with dinner on the lawn and then set credit unions mano y mano on the bowling lanes.

Tim Harrington will highlight the convention theme on Friday, June 6, when he talks about why credit unions are different than banks and how everyone wins when credit unions live up to their higher purpose.

Brad Ganey from Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union will wrap up the event with innovations in high-tech person-to-person transactions.

New this year, supervisory committee members and staffers can get the training they need to help move their credit unions onward and upward into the future in an all-day session with Tim Harrington Saturday, June 7. You may cancel your registration and receive a refund of 50% of the registration fee provided that your cancellation notice is emailed to Paula Jeffrey at paula@cuanm.org by midnight of May 16, 2014.
