AEE SoCal Annual Conference 2014

Transformation:

The Evolving Role of

Energy Utilities

SEPTEMBER 25, 2014

SoCalGas Company Energy Resource Center, Downey, California

Southern California Gas Co. Energy Resource Center
Downey, California
Dear Energy Industry Professional:

The 2014 AEE SoCal Annual conference will focus on the evolving role of energy utilities in delivering energy and services to commercial, institutional and industrial customers.

The relationship between energy utilities and their commercial, industrial and institutional customers has undergone a transformational shift.

Utilities now interact with their customers in complex and diverse ways that have evolved beyond the traditional role of reliably delivering energy as a commodity at a set metered rate to an end user.

The AEE SoCal 2014 Annual Conference will examine the current role of energy utilities in their relationships with their Southern California commercial, industrial and institutional customers and how that role is continuing to change and evolve. What will energy utilities look like and how will they act in the future?

The AEE SoCal 2014 Annual Conference program will be of strong interest to energy engineers, facility managers, building owners, utility executives and account managers, energy service companies, contractors, design firms, consultants. and anyone else that interacts with energy utilities and their commercial-scale customers in the Southern California region. 4 Energy utilities continue to have a primary function of delivering energy, but this has been value-added by also delivering expertise and incentives that help their customers use that energy more efficiently and more cost effectively.

<> Utilities can now be deeply involved in their customer’s business operations with demand response agreements that utilize advanced technology to exert direct control over their customer’s power use.

<> Utilities can have a reversal of roles where they buy energy from their customers as distributed generation capabilities from renewable energy and co-generation strategies expand.

<> Regulators are compelling utilities to open their infrastructures to the development of a wide variety of distributed generation options, microgrids, smartgrids, energy districts and more.

<> Energy customers are becoming more savvy, energy efficient and energy self-reliant, often with the help of their local utility, energy service companies, energy-focused contractors, design firms and consultants.

<> But all this energy savings can impact utility revenues at a time when investments in upgrading and modernizing energy utility generation and transmission infrastructure are more important than ever. Exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities are available.
