SCORE will help you get in on the action! The Government Contracting Basics workshop will give you
the knowledge to:
  • Get registered in the federal contractor registry
  • Understand the federal procurement process
  • Know the realities and myths of government contracting
  • Learn what certifications you may qualify for and how to apply for
    them (HUBZone, Woman-owned, 8(a), and others)
  • Identify specific agencies that want what you are selling
  • Locate and connect with “prime” contractors that need small business partners

Presenters:

Paul Hollenbach is a SCORE mentor who offers clients his experience in founding his own company that specialized in the construction industry, specifically the development of structural anchors. Paul mentors clients in obtaining business loans as well as with state and federal contracting processes and procedures.

Rosa Rodarte has been with the U.S. Small Business Administration since 1975, and currently holds the position of Assistant District Director, Business Development in San Diego.  A loan expert, Rosa served for many years as a Senior Loan Officer, as well as a Loan Servicing and Liquidation specialist.  Her responsibilities have ranged from processing loans, working with borrowers to help prevent liquidation and, processing available collateral upon liquidation.  Rosa is fluent in Spanish and a frequent lecturer on behalf of SBA.

Carlos Liu is the Business Opportunity Specialist of 8(a) Business Development Division, San Diego District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).Mr. Liu serves as the 8(a) Business Development point of contact for the District Office to ensure small business owners who are socially and economically disadvantaged are aware of the various programs and requirements (SDB, 8(a), HubZone, etc.). Mr. Liu also provides business development, Federal contact support, and other technical assistance and entrepreneurial training as needed. Before coming to San Diego, Mr. Liu worked at SBA South Florida District Office as Business Development Specialist. Prior to SBA, he has held several chief executive positions in a multinational corporation, designing and manufacturing electronic power supplies.  Mr. Liu managed and supervised daily operations including product design and quality, sales, marketing, customer service and supply chain management. He is knowledgeable in various aspects of small and medium business operations from start-up to managing growth. Mr. Liu has abundant international trade experience. He had a professional career as Director of several overseas trade offices in Europe and United States when he worked at Taiwan External Trade Development Council, a foremost trade promotion organization in Taiwan serving small and medium businesses in international trade development.Mr. Liu holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in International Trade from National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan and Master Degree in International Business from University of Miami.
