A meeting of the minds:
Getting to know marketers and journalists better

with the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association (CAMA) and
Eastern Canada Farm Writers' Association (ECFWA)

Moderator:  Owen Roberts with the University of Guelph

Workshop Overview
Journalists and marketers have a symbiotic relationship – at some point, they need each others' cooperation to succeed. They, along with their readers, listeners and viewers, are part of a communication triad that fails if any part of the triad is weak or out of balance.
But even in a relatively small market such as Ontario, they don’t know each other well. They tend to stay in their own camps, and as a result, they are missing opportunities to know each others’ concerns and interests.

This event is designed change that divide.  It's designed to build bridges, relationships and familiarity with each other. It will take the pulse of both groups.  And as an added bonus, it will reveal what farmers are thinking about marketing and the media.

It’s envisioned this knitting together of interests will help all parties do their jobs better, particularly as social media continues to evolve and the lines blur – and even collide -- between marketers, communicators and farmers.
