Speaker: Shawn Reaves

Target Audience: Special Educator, and General Education Teacher, Counselors, School Psychologists, Building and District level Administrator

Description: This dynamic workshop will help participants learn to recognize students “phases of escalated behavior”.  Specific intervention strategies will be offered  for  each phase (including:  calm, trigger, agitation, acceleration, peak, de-escalation and recovery).  Additional topics addressed are sources of anger in youth, physiological reactions during an outburst, personal “hot buttons” of anger, and practical strategies to intervene effectively (while avoiding adding “fuel to the fire”).
